FAQ
Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions we have received about the upcoming 53rd EDTNA/ERCA International Conference.
  • Is the conference a hybrid or in person only event?

This year’s conference is an in person only event.

  • What is the best way of getting around Porto?

The best way of getting around in Porto is by using the public transportation network. More information here.

  • Where to buy tickets for public transport?

You can buy the Andante Card for public transport in many places in the city - e.g. at the airport, at metro and train stations, at some bus stops, and at kiosks.

  • What is an e-Poster presentation?

An e-Poster presentation is a visual presentation of research findings or projects displayed on an e-kiosk. e-Poster presentations are commonly used to showcase research and communicate findings to a wider audience. The presenter creates an e-Poster that includes visual aids, such as graphs, images, and text, to summarise their research. e-Poster presentations are an effective way to share research findings and network with colleagues in the same field.

The e-Posters on interactive screens will be on display during the entire conference on the conference floor and there will also be specific e-Poster sessions.

  • What is the conference agenda and what topics will be covered?

The conference agenda will be shared in the programme section on our website in due time. The theme of this year’s conference is “Addressing Inequities in Kidney Care for a Healthier Future”.

  • What are the accommodation options near the conference venue and how can I book it?

Accommodation of various categories is provided at discounted prices near the Alfândega Congress Centre. Recommended hotels are either within walking distance of the conference venue and just a few minutes away from the city centre by public transport, or the other way around. You can find more information about the hotels in the Accommodation section of the website. Please note that we do not have any rooms on hold for the conference period and that availability is subject to change.

  • Are there any social events or networking opportunities during the conference?

Apart from break and coffee sessions during the day, there will be a networking event for attendees where there’ll be an opportunity to network and enjoy informal time with colleagues. Entrance to the networking event can be purchased separately when registering.

  • What is the dress code for the conference?

The dress code for the EDTNA/ERCA conference is business casual. However, it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket or sweater as the temperature in the conference rooms can vary.

  • Is it still possible to edit my abstract after I have submitted it?

The abstract submission closed on March 3, 2025. If you want to make any changes to your abstract, please contact the Scientific Programme Coordinator at scientificprogramme@edtnaerca.org.

  • What are the registration fees for the conference?

The registration fees can be found on the Registration page. There are three registration periods:

    • Early registration – the most affordable option
    • Regular registration
    • Late registration – the highest fee

We also offer special discounts for EDTNA/ERCA members, students, and Portuguese nurses registering for the Portuguese National Day.

  • Will my abstract be included in the Book of Abstracts?

If at least one of the abstract’s authors will be present at the conference (paid registration) and the abstract was accepted as an oral presentation, an e-Poster with oral presentation or an e-Poster without presentation, it will be included in the Book of Abstracts.

  • Where can I find more information about how to structure my presentation and/or e-Poster?

The Scientific Committee has prepared instructions for you on the Instructions for Presenters page.

  • How can I register a group of participants?

If you are registering a group of participants, you can select multiple tickets and turn off the „this ticket is for me“ option in the next step of the registration. You will be requested to fill in the details of the ticket holders. When filling in the personal data of individual participants (first name, last name, email), be especially careful and avoid mistakes.

Please fill in the questions from the registration form for at least one participant, because here you are filling in the invoicing address that will appear on your invoice.

It is compulsory to complete the registration form for each participant. If you (the person doing the group registration) do not fill in all the details, you can choose the option that a registration form will be sent to the person (people) you are registering. You can then subsequently complete the payment.

In case you have questions about the group registration, please contact the EDTNA/ERCA Conference Management & Registrations at edtnaerca2025@edtnaerca.org.

  • What is the Portuguese National Day Registration?

The Portuguese National Day registration is meant for Portuguese nurses and other specialists who want to participate in the conference. On Sunday October 12 there will be a dedicated room where a special programme will be held in the Portuguese language, composed by our Scientific Board. Our aim is to provide high-level education on the subject for the local nurses and specialists community.

Please note: with this registration Portuguese nurses are also more than welcome to join us for the other days of the conference.

  • What is the difference between a delegate registration and an exhibitor registration (for partners)?

A delegate registration is an entrance to the Scientific Sessions and the exhibition. An exhibitor registration is an entrance to the exhibition (in the foyer), but not to the Scientific Sessions. An exhibitor registration does however allow exhibitors/partners to attend their own sponsored sessions (e.g. CES or Lunch Symposium).

  • I am a speaker at the conference. Do I need to purchase a delegate registration?

Yes, active participants need to purchase a delegate registration. The only exception is for Guest Speakers invited by the EDTNA/ERCA. You can find the list of invited Guest Speakers and their bios on the Scientific Programme page.

  • Will there be a Morning Walk again?

Yes, we are planning on organising a Morning Walk again. More information will follow in due time.

  • Am I eligible for the student registration fee?

Student registration is available to anyone currently enrolled at a recognised educational institution. To be eligible for the student fee, you must provide valid and current proof of enrollment at the time of registration.
